This program focuses on diminishing the risk factors for urban Indigenous youth at risk (aged 12-29), aiming to decrease their future interactions with the criminal justice system. This entails facilitating access to positive lifestyle choices and ensuring that youth are engaged in preventative programming, particularly through land-based learning initiatives.
Our key focus is to deter youth from engaging with drugs, alcohol, and addictions, including those related to social media. The coordinator will work to boost school attendance, enhance engagement with school activities, and promote educational objectives. Moreover, this position is tasked with reinforcing positive community values among the youth, leveraging cultural teachings, and traditional knowledge imparted through land-based learning.
Our kwu xast coordinator has a strong passion for making a meaningful impact on the lives of urban Indigenous youth and possess the capability to foster an environment that encourages growth, learning, and community engagement.
